Michelle Zaleski

Dr. Michelle Zaleski serves as an Assistant Professor and Writing Center Director in the English Department at Benedictine College, teaching composition courses from her office in St. Benedict Hall 301.

Her educational background includes a Bachelor's degree from Boston College and Master's/Ph.D. in rhetoric and composition from Penn State University.

Research expertise spans:

• Historical Jesuit educational practices in early modern India
• Translingual approaches to rhetoric
• Multilingual writing pedagogy
• Transliteracy in academic contexts
• Comparative rhetorical traditions

Prior to Benedictine College, she established writing programs at the Asian University for Women (Bangladesh) and developed community writing initiatives for basic writers at Marymount University (Virginia). She is currently completing a book on Jesuit education in India to advance translingual rhetoric frameworks. Dr. Zaleski resides in Atchison with her husband Joe, baby Theodore, and dog Diego.
