Seth Williams

Seth Williams is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Louisiana State University (LSU). He joined LSU in 2024 after completing a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship at Rice University.

• Education: Ph.D. in Criminology, Law & Society from the University of California, Irvine (2022)

His research focuses on spatial inequality in housing, land use, crime, and criminal justice, with a particular emphasis on intersections with race and class. He challenges traditional criminological theories by highlighting how racial and spatial inequality are interconnected through marginalization and exploitation.

Current projects examine links between neighborhood crime and systemic issues such as eviction, substandard housing, racial-ethnic segregation, toxic land use, discriminatory tenant screening, and exploitative landlord practices. His work has been published in journals across sociology, criminology, urban studies, and geography.
