Seth Bennett is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for Sports Journalism at Sheffield Hallam University, affiliated with the College of Social Sciences and Arts. He has been with the university since 2021, leading the Sports Journalism program since 2023. Bennett brings extensive industry experience as a sports broadcaster, having commentated on over 1,200 football matches, 1,000 ice hockey matches, and 23 sports across major events like the Olympics and World Cups.
His career includes roles at BBC Radio Sheffield, BBC World Service, and the Olympic Broadcasting Service. He created the nightly football show Football Heaven and transitioned to academia while maintaining freelance work for BBC World News. He teaches modules such as Multimedia Storytelling, Radio Broadcasting, and Live Event Coverage.
Bennett’s research interests align with his teaching, focusing on sports journalism’s intersection with culture and creativity. He is part of the Culture and Creativity Research Institute, emphasizing practical, industry-linked education.
