Dr. Tim Bennett is a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Biomechanics at Carnegie School of Sport, Leeds Beckett University. He specializes in movement variability and motor control in sports, particularly soccer kicking analysis, and has contributed to research at major athletic events including the 2017 IAAF World Championships and 2018 World Indoor Championships.
- Education: BSc in Sport & Exercise Science (Leeds Beckett University, 2003), MSc in Sport Injury Management (Sheffield Hallam University, 2006), PhD in Soccer Kicking Biomechanics (Leeds Beckett University, 2016)
His research interests focus on movement variability structure in striking sports, specifically soccer kicking, and extend to golf and throwing mechanics. Recent work examines leg stiffness classification of footballers into 'gazelle' and 'grizzly' running styles with implications for training programs.
As part-time lecturer (2010-2014) at Leeds Beckett, then lecturer at Leeds Trinity University (2014-2015), he returned to Leeds Beckett in 2015 as Senior Lecturer. Teaching includes biomechanics, human movement, and dissertation supervision across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
