Miyoung Oh is a Senior Lecturer in Sport Sociology at Sheffield Hallam University's College of Social Sciences and Arts. A graduate of the University of Surrey (PhD) and University of Calgary, she researches the intersection of sport, identity, and media with focus on Korean contexts. Her current project investigates PE students' learning experiences at Sheffield Hallam to enhance curriculum development.
Her research explores how mega-events like the Olympics and World Cup shape national narratives and examines gender representations in sports media. Current investigations include North Korean refugees' social integration through sports and the 2018 Winter Olympics' cultural impact.
She teaches Research in PE, Politics of PE, and Sport & Social Issues modules across Physical Education and Sport Development programs.
