Setareh Ghoreishi serves as Assistant Professor of Graphic Design and Coordinator of DES Field Experience at Oakland University's School of Art, Art History and Design in Rochester, Michigan, where she maintains her office in 321 West Wilson Hall.
Her academic foundation includes a B.F.A. in Graphic Design from the University of Art in Tehran, Iran, complemented by dual M.F.A. degrees: one in Graphic Design from Florida Atlantic University and another in Art and Technology from the University of Florida.
Ghoreishi's research critically examines cultural intersections between Iranian and American societies through visual language, exploring identity negotiation, globalization impacts, and communication barriers. Her methodology integrates graphic design, digital installations, and typographic experimentation to dissect themes like consumerism, linguistic displacement, and social etiquette across cultural boundaries.
Her 2012-2018 creative portfolio reveals consistent engagement with cross-cultural dialogue through video installations examining homogenization ("Re-made in the USA"), metaphorical container symbolism ("My Containers"), and kinetic typography addressing communication failures ("Setareh Receiver"), with recurring motifs of cultural adaptation and identity fragmentation.
As Coordinator of DES Field Experience, she structures professional design practicums for students. Her active exhibition record—including solo shows at Vanderbilt University and participation in "Womxnhouse Detroit"—demonstrates significant professional engagement despite no documented scientific awards.
