معرفی
Sergiy Yakovlev is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Maryland Baltimore School of Medicine. He joined the faculty in 2005 after postdoctoral training at the American Red Cross and specializes in the biochemistry of blood coagulation and fibrin-dependent inflammation.
- M.S., Biochemistry, Dnipropetrovsk State University (1991)
- Ph.D., Biochemistry, Institute of Biochemistry, Natl. Acad. Sci. Ukraine (1997)
- Postdoc, American Red Cross (1998-2004)
Dr. Yakovlev's research focuses on fibrinogen/fibrin interactions with cell surface receptors like VLDL receptor and VE-cadherin. His work explores how these interactions contribute to inflammatory processes, particularly in leukocyte transmigration and cardiovascular disorders. Key findings include identifying the fibrin βN-domain as a therapeutic target and developing monoclonal antibodies that inhibit fibrin-VLDLR binding.
His publications between 2011-2017 demonstrate expertise in biochemical characterization of protein interactions, anti-inflammatory therapeutics, and molecular mechanisms of inflammation. The articles highlight applications in cardiovascular medicine and immunology.
