Sergio Cerutti is a Professor in Biomedical Engineering at the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering, Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy. He has held leadership roles as Chairman of the Department of Bioengineering (2000-2006) and Chairman of Biomedical Engineering (BME) Programs (2010-2012). He has taught graduate and doctoral courses on Biomedical Signal Processing and Modelling at engineering and medical faculties in Milano and Roma since 1983.
His research focuses on biomedical signal processing, neurosciences, and cardiovascular modelling, emphasizing the integration of information across modalities, sources, and scales in physiological systems. He has authored over 500 international scientific contributions, including more than 250 indexed journal articles.
Cerutti has served as an Elected Member of IEEE-EMBS AdCom (Region 8) during 1993-1996 and 2011-2013, and currently holds roles as Fellow Member of IEEE, EAMBES, and AIMBE. He is also an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering and a member of the IEEE-EMBS Summer School on Biomedical Signal Processing Steering Committee.
