Dr. Selin Dilli is an Associate Professor in Economic and Social History at Utrecht University's Department of History and Art History, College of Humanities. Her research combines social science theories with historical analysis to examine how institutional and structural factors shaped gender (in)equality in wellbeing outcomes and female entrepreneurship over the long 20th century.
- Current NWO Veni project: 'Missing Entrepreneurs? The Diversity of Female Entrepreneurship in Europe, 1900-2020'
- Co-editor of the special issue 'Where Have All the Business Women Gone?' in Business History (2023–2025)
- Core member of the 'Bottom-up Initiatives for Societal Change' platform under Utrecht's 'Institutions for Open Societies' strategic theme
Her work includes creating the Historical Gender Equality Index and analyzing institutional complementarities in entrepreneurship. She has co-supervised three interdisciplinary PhD projects and served as History Board Member for Utrecht's PPE bachelor's program (2020–2023), leading curriculum development initiatives. Dr. Dilli has published extensively in journals like Economic History Review, Small Business Economics, and Feminist Economics.
