He serves as Department Head (2021-present, previously 2017-2018) and Faculty Board Member, teaching graduate courses including Turkish Mythology and Religious Sufi Literature while supervising master's theses on regional folklore topics.
His academic foundation includes:
- Hacettepe University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Turkish Language and Literature (1979-1985)
- Gazi University, Institute of Social Sciences, Turkish Folk Literature (Master's: 1991-1996)
- Gazi University, Institute of Social Sciences, Turkish Folk Literature (PhD: 1997-2005)
BAHADIR's research centers on Turkish Folk Literature with deep regional engagement in Artvin and Eastern Anatolia. His work examines oral traditions through multiple lenses: folk poetry structures (particularly Âşıklar competitions), mythological motifs (including dragon-slaying narratives), folk medicine practices, and historical consciousness in epic traditions. He documents endangered cultural practices like Poşa community traditions and supernatural narratives through fieldwork across Artvin's villages.
Analysis of his 15 most recent publications (2017-2025) reveals consistent focus on regional cultural identity, with 60% examining Artvin-specific folklore and 40% addressing broader Turkish cultural history. Key thematic clusters include historical trauma narratives (World War I migrations, Armenian events), gender representations in proverbs and myths, and the intersection of religious thought with folk practices. His methodological approach combines textual analysis of folk poetry with ethnographic fieldwork documenting oral traditions.
No scientific awards were documented in available sources.
BAHADIR has supervised 12 master's theses since 2017 on Artvin's folklore, including studies on folk medicine, children's games, and culinary traditions. He secured institutional funding for projects including 'Cazı-Cazi Memorats in Artvin's Supernatural Narratives' (2018-2021) and 'Cultural Politics of Poşas in Artvin' (2025). His editorial work includes contributions to the Turkish Literature Names Encyclopedia.
