Erkan Aslan is a Lecturer at the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, Kafkas University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, with a focus on Turkish Folklore and Cultural Heritage. He earned his PhD and MA in Turkish Folklore from Gazi University and a BA from Selçuk University.

His research spans Turkish Folklore, mythology, and popular culture, analyzing topics like UFO myths, Dede Korkut epics, and folk poetry. His recent work explores cultural transmission in animation and music, alongside urban folklore and fakelore (tradition invention).
He has published 14 journal articles, 7 conference papers, and 144 book chapters, with 2015-2024 studies on Turkic tribes (Karapapaks/Terekemes) in the Caucasus and Turkey. His 2020-2024 TÜBİTAK awards recognize international scientific publications.

Aslan teaches undergraduate courses on Turkish folk literature and folklore research methods, plus graduate seminars on Turkish mythology. He also co-edited two 2023-2024 books on urban folklore and cultural transfer.
