Prof. Dr. MEHMET EMİN BARS is a full professor at Bingöl University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Turkish Language and Literature. He holds academic titles from 2013 (PhD) to 2024 (Professor). Before joining Bingöl University in 2017, he worked as a Turkish teacher for the Ministry of National Education from 2001 to 2017. His education includes a BSc (2001), MSc (2005), and PhD (2013) from Atatürk University's Department of Turkish Folklore.
Research focuses on Turkish folklore, epic literature, mythology, and cultural studies. Key interests include analyzing epics like Oğuz Kağan, Köroğlu, and Battal Gazi, exploring oral traditions, and investigating folkloric motifs in modern media. Recent studies address internet folklore, digital cultural adaptation, and epistemological shifts in folklore theory.
His 83+ publications include books on Turkish epics, folklore theory, and Sufi literature. International conferences cover topics like Ashab-ı Kehf narratives, folkloric symbolism, and cross-cultural epic comparisons. He serves as a referee for 20+ academic journals, emphasizing Turkish literature, folklore, and cultural studies.
Teaching includes courses on Turkish folk literature, mythology, and oral tradition methods. Active in academic administration since 2017, he continues contributing to Turkish cultural and literary scholarship through research, publication, and international collaboration.
