Ezgi Metin Basat is an Associate Professor at Kirsehir Ahi Evran University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Turkish Language and Literature. Her career includes previous roles as a part-time lecturer at TOBB University (2017-2019) and Ankara University (2016-2017).
- Education: PhD in Turkish Folklore (Gazi University, 2009-2014), Master's in Turkish Folklore (2005-2008), Master's in Turkish Language and Literature (2005-2007), and MA in Theater (Ankara University, 2016-2020).
Research focuses on Turkish folklore, traditional theater (Karagöz, Ortaoyunu), cultural heritage, and the intersection of oral/visual narratives. Her 2025 work examines performative elements in rural chamber plays and tragic-comic duality in shadow theater.
Recent publications address folkloric performance trends, including articles on Topos in Karagöz humor, metatheater in Turkish tradition, and mythological justice in epics. She has advised 5 graduate theses since 2022.
