Sebastian Johnston is a Professor of Respiratory Medicine & Allergy at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London, and an Honorary Consultant Physician at St Mary's Hospital, Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust. He also serves as the Clinical Academic Training Lead for Respiratory Medicine at Imperial College & Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust.

Research Interests include viral etiology of asthma and COPD exacerbations, mechanisms of susceptibility to virus infections, and novel therapeutic approaches for respiratory diseases. His work has led to patents licensed to industry and Phase I/II clinical trials for IFN-beta treatment of asthma exacerbations, with a rhinovirus vaccine entering Phase I studies in late 2024/early 2025.
