معرفی
Cecilia Johansson is a Professor of Mucosal Immunology at the National Heart & Lung Institute, part of the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College London. Her academic journey includes undergraduate studies at Umeå and Lund Universities (Sweden), a PhD in Immunology from Lund University, and postdoctoral training at the NIH, USA. She leads a research group investigating immunity during viral infections, particularly focusing on type I interferons' role in lung inflammation and cancer interactions.
Her affiliations include the Asthma UK Centre for Asthma and Allergy, the Immuno-Pathology Network, and the Imperial Network for Vaccine Research. She organizes the Imperial CREST Academy, fostering science education for students aged 16-18. Her work is supported by grants from MRC, BBSRC, Wellcome Trust, and others.
Research interests span mucosal immunology, viral pathogenesis, T cell responses, and innate immunity. Her lab explores how viral infections influence lung cancer progression and develops vaccine strategies using lentiviral and AAV vectors. Recent studies highlight the interplay between neutrophils, cytokines, and viral outcomes in RSV and SARS-CoV-2 models.
