معرفی
Prof. Dr. Sebastian Günther is a faculty member at the Technische Universität München (TUM) under the TUM School of Natural Sciences, Department of Chemistry. His work bridges surface science, heterogeneous catalysis, and advanced material synthesis.
- Studied physics at LMU Munich (1990), PhD in scanning tunneling microscopy (Ulm University, 1995)
- Habilitation in 2003 at the University of Hanover
- Since 2010: Professor of Physical Chemistry with a focus on Catalysis at TUM
His research explores catalytic processes on metal surfaces and model systems, utilizing STM, XPEEM, and LEEM to study reactions under near-ambient conditions. Key projects include graphene synthesis for environmental cell applications and dynamic surface imaging.
Recent publications highlight his contributions to graphene growth kinetics, cluster encapsulation, and interdisciplinary topics like Islamic ethics and school tobacco policies.
- DFG habilitation scholarship (2000-2001)
- Marie Curie Fellowship (1998-1999)
Teaching includes experimental physical chemistry courses for advanced students, focusing on spectroscopy and microscopy. His lab develops electron-transparent membranes for real-time reaction studies.
