Friedrich Esch

Friedrich Esch is a Senior Lecturer at the Chair of Physical Chemistry within the TUM School of Natural Sciences at Technische Universität München. His work focuses on catalytically relevant metal and oxide surfaces and clusters, including reaction dynamics, strain effects, oxidation processes, and redox chemistry of reducible oxides.

His research involves advanced experimental techniques such as Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy (STM), Atomic and Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy, and synchrotron-based spectroscopy (XPS, NEXAFS). He also contributes to instrumentation development for optimizing STM performance and data analysis.
