Sebastian Bender is an Assistant Professor (tenure-track "Juniorprofessor") at the Department of Philosophy, University of Göttingen, specializing in early modern philosophy, metaphysics, epistemology, and political philosophy. He previously held roles at Humboldt University (PhD candidate and research associate), Rice University (visiting lecturer), and Yale University (research stay). His current projects include editing Causation and Cognition in Early Modern Philosophy and working on a book manuscript Causation and Containment. An Essay in Early Modern Metaphysics. He is an Associate Researcher at the Human Abilities Centre for Advanced Studies in the Humanities and a member of the New Voices Center on Women in the History of Philosophy.
