Sean Henry is a Senior Lecturer in Education and Cultural Studies at Edge Hill University (2024–present), previously holding a Lecturer position there (2022–2024). He serves as Co-Programme Leader for the BA Education and Joint Honours programme and EDI Lead for the Faculty of Education. His academic journey includes roles as Assistant Lecturer in Philosophy of Education at Maynooth University and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Research Centre on Inclusive and Equitable Cultures, Technological University Dublin.

Research interests focus on religion and education, sexuality/gender dynamics in educational settings, and philosophy of education. He explores topics such as queer theory in religious schooling, LGBTQIA+ inclusion in Catholic institutions, and social justice in pedagogical frameworks. Recent work addresses challenges like free speech in academia and faith narratives in Irish education.
Award: Recipient of the Teaching Hero prize (2021).
Collaborations include the IDI Research Network Think Tank (2024) and co-editing volumes on queer thriving in Catholic education. He actively supervises Masters and doctoral students in his research areas.
Teaching spans modules in education studies, religious studies, and religious education. Member of the Children's Rights and Wellbeing Research Network.
