Sean Butler

Sean Butler is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at The University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler), affiliated with The Academy. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry from UT Tyler (2004) and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from The Ohio State University (2011). His research focuses on chemical education, synthetic organic chemistry, peptide chemistry, natural products, and community outreach. Dr. Butler emphasizes undergraduate laboratory instruction and has received multiple teaching awards.

Research interests include advancing chemical education practices and exploring synthetic methodologies for natural products. Outside academia, he enjoys photography, woodworking, and family trips to national parks.
