Seamus Burns is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the Sheffield Institute of Law and Justice, part of Sheffield Hallam University's College of Social Sciences and Arts. He specializes in Medical Law and Ethics, with roles as Module Leader for Law and Medicine, Course Leader for Medical Ethics and Law for Specialist Registrars, and Lecturer in Public Law and Human Rights. His qualifications include LLB (Hons) from Queen's University Belfast (QUB), MA, PG Dip F&HEd, and CPLS (QUB).
Education background: LLB (Hons) (QUB), MA, PG Dip F&HEd, CPLS (QUB). Teaching focuses on intersections between law, medicine, and ethics, including consent, medical negligence, euthanasia, and evidence law. He has organized the Annual Law and Medicine Guest Lecture Series since 1993 and leads the Law of Evidence Guest Lecture Series.
Research interests span assisted reproduction law, abortion law, organ transplantation ethics, human rights in healthcare, and evidence corroboration standards. He has published extensively on topics like the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008 and legislative reforms affecting regulatory frameworks.

- Supervision: Currently guiding 1 PhD student on assisted reproduction and 3 LLB dissertations in law and medicine.
