Seamus Allison is an Associate Professor in the Department of Marketing at Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University, serving as course leader for BA (Hons) Marketing and module leader for Future Marketing, the Marketing Environment, and Personal and Academic Development. He integrates 30 years of commercial experience from direct sales, retail, leisure, and public health sectors into his academic role.
Dr. Allison holds an MBA (awarded Bass MBA Student of the Year in 2001) and a PhD. His doctoral research examined internal communications and trust in organizations. Current research spans social marketing for health behavioral change, cycling and identity formation in young adults, not-for-profit marketing communications, and customer experience in marketing mix design.
He leads a research team collaborating with Nottingham City Council on cycling provision evaluation and partners with British Cycling and Triathlon England to deliver youth sports programs. His work emphasizes behavior change through social marketing frameworks in community health contexts.
His notable awards include:
- Chartered Management Institute Student of the Year award (2000)
- Bass MBA Student of the Year award (2001)
- NTU Outstanding Teaching Award (2015)
- CIM Commendation award for Future Marketing (three occasions)
As course leader, Dr. Allison mentors undergraduate marketing students while contributing to the CIM’s annual study centre conference. He actively represents Ireland in international duathlon championships, demonstrating his commitment to both academic and athletic excellence.
He maintains professional affiliations as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
