Scott McPheeters is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Dance at Bates College and co-director of Subcircle, a Biddeford-based dance company, arts presenter, and artist residency. He teaches within the Dance department while contributing to interdisciplinary arts education and community engagement.

His choreographic practice challenges anthropocentric hierarchies and fosters queer belonging in rural spaces through experimental performance frameworks. This aligns with his professional background in Philadelphia dance/theater collaborations and his leadership in Subcircle's experimental programming.
Recognized with the 2016 Barrymore Award for his theatrical performance in 'Andy: A Popera,' McPheeters integrates performance art traditions with contemporary social themes. His work bridges urban and rural cultural ecosystems through residencies and collaborative projects.
