Scott M. Hayes serves as Dean of the School of Communication & the Arts at Liberty University, where he is also a Professor of Theatre Arts. He oversees curriculum development and facilities, having introduced career-focused degrees at all academic levels. With 26 years of experience, he has led six universities and two professional theatre companies. His professional work includes directing award-winning productions like BLOODROOT and WITHOUT EXCUSE, recognized nationally. Hayes is a member of SAG/AFTRA and AEA, and recently appeared in THE NERD. He chairs the Faith and Theatre committee at the Southeastern Theatre Conference and edits SOUTHERN THEATRE magazine. A descendant of Sir Arthur Sullivan, he authored books on his ancestor and frequently presents on topics like Shakespearean production innovations and communication theory for community-building.
Research Interests: Theatre production innovation, curriculum development in arts education, community-building through performance, and historical theatre studies. His work bridges traditional theatre practices with modern communication theory, emphasizing practical applications in education and industry partnerships.
