Gerritt VanderMeer is a Professor at the Bower School of Music & the Arts, Florida Gulf Coast University. He holds an MFA in Acting from UCLA and multiple bachelor’s degrees from Purdue University, including in Theatre, Foreign Languages, and Engineering. With over 20 years of professional acting experience, VanderMeer is a member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors’ Equity Association. He has performed in major theatres across the U.S. and internationally, including Broadway tours and roles in The Music Man, as well as regional companies like Trinity Repertory and Shakespeare Theatre Company (DC).

Teaching & Research Interests: VanderMeer specializes in acting techniques, voice, and movement for stage and screen. He co-produces the The State of Shakespeare podcast (2010–2019) and leads study abroad programs in theatre (2013, '15, '17, '19). His courses include Acting I/II, Acting for the Camera, and Creating New Theatre.
