Jesus Bonilla is an Adjunct Lecturer in the School of Theatre and Dance at the University of Florida. He is a multi-faceted artist with expertise in acting, directing, playwriting, and theatre education. His professional credits span film, television, and stage, including Broadway understudy roles and award-winning theatre productions.
Education: B.A. in Theatre from Arizona State University, MFA in Acting from Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts under Maggie Flanagan and William Esper.
Research interests include theatrical storytelling across mediums, with focuses on immigration narratives, classical adaptations, and ensemble-driven performances. His written works like Walking To America and Boy Steals Train explore socio-cultural themes through dramatic frameworks.
Notable awards include the Fringe First Award and Queens Courier 'Kudos' Award for direction. He is a member of AEA, AFTRA/SAG, HOLA, and NALIP, reflecting his commitment to Latinx representation in the arts.
Current projects include developing Hunting For Ewoks and adapting Medea into Maria with Resonance Ensemble. His teaching emphasizes practical training in on-camera acting and classical performance techniques.
