Dr. Scott Lyall is an Associate Professor of Modern and Scottish Literature at Edinburgh Napier University’s School of Arts and Creative Industries. He specializes in modernism, literary revivals, and Scottish cultural history, with a focus on the interwar literary renaissance. His work bridges literary analysis and historical context, examining figures like Hugh MacDiarmid and Nan Shepherd.
Education: PhD from the University of St Andrews, postdoctoral research at Trinity College Dublin’s Centre for Irish–Scottish Studies. Joined Edinburgh Napier in 2009.
Research Interests: Modern Scottish literature, small-nation modernism, cultural revival movements, national identity, and the intersection of literature with politics and spirituality.
