Scott Horsley

Scott Horsley is an Assistant Professor in the School of Arts & Sciences at Colby-Sawyer College. He joined the faculty in 2019/2021. His teaching focuses on drawing, painting, and the Capstone course for studio art and graphic design students. Prior to this, he taught at the University of Florida and Weber State University.

Horsley holds an MFA in drawing and painting from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), and an MFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). His artistic practice interrogates how historical and contemporary technologies and communication mediums influence human agency and control. He questions assumptions about non-reciprocal control over media interpretations, blending critical theory with visual art.

His work has been exhibited nationally in solo and group shows, including venues in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, San Diego, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, and Miami, with participation in Art Basel. Though no specific grants or labs are noted, his research intersects art, technology, and societal dynamics.
