Dr. Scott Guimond is a Lecturer in Bioscience at Keele University School of Medicine. His research focuses on glycosaminoglycan biochemistry with applications in viral infections and neurodegenerative diseases. Located at the David Weatherall Building (ST5 5BG), he teaches undergraduate medicine and maintains an active research program examining heparin-protein interactions.
His primary research investigates:
- Structural mechanisms of heparin-SARS-CoV-2 interactions
- Glycosaminoglycan inhibitors for Alzheimer's disease
- Analytical methods for heparan sulfate characterization
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on heparin biochemistry applied to virology and neuroscience, with recent emphasis on SARS-CoV-2 therapeutic strategies and BACE1 inhibition pathways.
