Scott Grieshaber is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Idaho, part of the College of Science. His research focuses on understanding the pathogenesis of the obligate intracellular bacterial pathogen Chlamydia, specifically investigating cytological effects on host cells and mechanisms of chlamydial differentiation. He holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Wyoming (2000) and a B.S. in Microbiology from Colorado State University (1991).
Dr. Grieshaber's research projects include determining CPAF's role in centrosome amplification, identifying chlamydial proteins involved in microtubule trafficking, and analyzing chlamydial chromatin structure during development. His work combines in vitro and in vivo assays with genomic tools like DNase-seq and ChIP-seq.
His recent publications (2020–2025) emphasize computational modeling of Chlamydia's developmental cycle, transcriptional regulation, and antibiotic effects. Articles highlight advancements in understanding chlamydial cell forms, metabolic dormancy, and developmental mutants.
Dr. Grieshaber's lab focuses on Chlamydia's intracellular mechanisms, contributing to the development of novel genetic tools and insights into bacterial pathogen-host interactions.
