Satomi Kimino is a Senior Lecturer in International Business and UG Education Lead for the Marketing, Management and Business Subject Group at the University of Hull. She joined in 2015 after a lectureship at Durham University and an ESRC Fellowship at Exeter University. Her PhD from Aston University focused on international business dynamics. Prior to academia, she worked in the private sector across multiple countries.
Her research interests center on multinational enterprises, foreign direct investment (FDI), knowledge spillovers, inter-firm networks, and corporate governance. She actively supervises PhD students in these areas and explores topics like keiretsu structures, agglomeration economies, and boardroom governance mechanisms.
Kimino’s work spans regional development and global value chains, with a focus on Japan’s business ecosystems and UK corporate governance evolution. She has contributed to journals like European Planning Studies, Multinational Business Review, and Corporate Governance, and co-authored a chapter in The SAGE Handbook of Corporate Governance.
Her ESRC Fellowship (University of Exeter) highlights her commitment to policy-relevant research. She is affiliated with the Marketing Management and Business Strategy group and contributes to teaching and research in international business strategy.
