Prof. Dr. Saskia Arndt is a Professor of Animal Behavior at Utrecht University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, where she chairs the Division Animals in Science & Society. Her research focuses on translating behavior-related animal welfare concepts into frameworks for veterinary practice and societal discussions.

Her expertise spans animal welfare, behavioral phenotyping, translational research, and 3Rs (Refinement of animal experiments). She leads Utrecht's AI & Animal Welfare Lab and serves as a spokesperson for animal welfare in research.
Arndt has supervised numerous PhD candidates, including Anne van Veen, Monique Bestman, and Dian Zijlmans, while also mentoring honors students and coordinating research internships. Her leadership roles include heading the Animal Behavior Clinic and chairing the faculty's Equality, Diversity & Inclusion committee.
