Professor Sarah Wright holds dual roles as Professor of Hispanic Studies and Screen Arts at Royal Holloway, University of London, and serves as Head of the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures (2018-21). She leads the Centre for Visual Cultures and edits the Bulletin of Spanish Studies and Bulletin of Spanish Visual Studies. Her research focuses on Spanish cinema, theatre, and cultural studies, with notable work on child representation in film and interdisciplinary analyses of Don Juan mythology. She has held AHRC and Leverhulme Trust fellowships, co-editing Childhood and Nation in Contemporary World Cinemas (2017).

Research interests span Spanish cultural history, with specializations in Chilean cinema and the intersection of art/activism. She has advised 3 graduate students and actively participates in UK-Spain research collaborations. Awards include Royal Society of Arts Fellowship (2016) and Apple for the Teacher Award (2010). She currently chairs the Association of Hispanists of Great Britain and Ireland.
Grants & Leadership: Directed the Leverhulme-funded Childhood & Nation in World Cinemas project (2014-17), collaborated on AHRC-funded child-focused research (2010-11), and served as AHGBI Secretary (2012-17). Active in EDI initiatives as School of Humanities' Equality Officer (2019-21).
Labs/Networks: Member of Royal Holloway's Centre for GeoHumanities, CCHS-GENET in Madrid, and co-founder of the Centre for Visual Studies.
