Sarah Walden, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Rhetoric in the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core (BIC) at Baylor University, where she has taught since 2011. She currently serves as Director of University Scholars and instructs Rhetoric I and Examined Life I, with plans to teach her first capstone course in spring semester. Her academic home resides within Baylor's interdisciplinary honors ecosystem including Great Texts, Honors Residential College, and University Scholars programs.
Dr. Walden's research interrogates rhetorical practices across historical and digital landscapes, with emphasis on gendered communication. Her forthcoming monograph Tasteful Domesticity: Women's Rhetoric and the American Cookbook, 1790-1940 (University of Pittsburgh Press, January) analyzes how women weaponized cookbooks as sites of ideological negotiation. Current projects dissect maternal identity construction on social media through lenses of failure rhetoric, self-care discourse, and professional performance strategies among modern mothers.
Her teaching portfolio spans Rhetoric I & II, World Cultures IV, and Examined Life I, reflecting the BIC's commitment to integrative liberal arts education. Personal pursuits include culinary arts and yoga practice alongside family life with husband Dan and son Liam.
