معرفی
Sarah Viola Emser is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Ulm since 2025, working in Clinical & Biological Psychology. She previously completed her Master’s and Doctoral studies in Pharmacy and Behavioral Biology at the University of Vienna and the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, focusing on mitochondrial genome sequencing and its applications in metabolic regulation and stress responses.
- Education: MSc in Pharmacy (University of Vienna, 2013–2017), PhD in Behavioral Biology & Genetics (University of Vienna & Vet Med Uni Vienna, 2018–2024)
- Current Role: Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Ulm (2025–)
Her research explores molecular markers for stress and trauma through omics data analysis, investigating biological signatures and their reversibility via mindfulness interventions. She also studies mitohormesis—mitokine stimulation through stress-relaxation cycles to enhance metabolic flexibility—and mechanisms of relaxation response and hypometabolism in health contexts. A key project, Mito2Health, links mitochondrial biology to depression treatment outcomes.
Her recent publications focus on mitochondrial genomics, tRNA interactions, and hibernation adaptations, reflecting interdisciplinary work at the intersection of molecular biology, genetics, and psychobiology.
- Scientific Awards: Travel Award (CoBeNe DocSchool, 2024), Uni:docs Fellowship (University of Vienna, 2019–2024)
She teaches the M.Sc. seminar on Psychoneuroimmunology in the summer semester 2025 at the University of Ulm.
