Sarah Szczesny

Sarah Szczesny is Assistant Professor of Visual Methods at the Institute for Music and Media, Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. A graduate of Kunstakademie Düsseldorf (MA, 2009), her interdisciplinary practice merges painting, collage, and digital animation.

Her research explores experimental visual narratives through techniques like GIF loops and sound integration, examining intersections between pop culture and art history. Szczensy's multidimensional works challenge traditional boundaries of static media, creating dynamic compositions informed by cartoon aesthetics.

Recognition includes residencies at Villa Kamogawa (Kyoto) and Villa Aurora (Los Angeles), and exhibitions at institutions like Neuer Aachener Kunstverein and Deichtorhallen Hamburg. She has lectured internationally at venues including HGK Basel and Goethe Institute Kyoto.
