Dr. Sarah Rouse
Dr. Sarah Rouse is a Research Fellow at the Department of Life Sciences, Imperial College London, affiliated with the Institute of Chemical Biology, Membrane Receptor Network, and the CDT in Chemical Biology: Innovation in Life Sciences. She holds a D.Phil and leads a lab focused on integrative structural biology, combining computational and experimental techniques to study membrane proteins and biological membranes.
Research Focus:
- Mitochondrial quality control pathways in ageing and age-related disorders
- Targeting viral vectors/nanoparticles to membranes
- Lipid modulation of membrane proteins
- Large-scale membrane remodelling
- Rational design of lipid-like biotherapeutics
Funding & Awards: Supported by the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship (2023+) and Wellcome Discovery Award. Collaborates with Techcelerate and Vector Space BioSciences on membrane protein methods. Previously affiliated with the University of Oxford's Structural Bioinformatics Unit (via historical profile).
Methods: Molecular dynamics simulation, X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, and electron tomography. Engages in multi-scale simulations of membrane proteins.
