Sarah Powell is a Senior Lecturer in the Macquarie School of Education, affiliated with the Centre for Research in Early Childhood Education (CRECE) and the Lifespan Health and Wellbeing Research Centre at Macquarie University. She is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and has over 15 years of teaching experience across preschool, primary, secondary, and tertiary education settings. Her research focuses on music and creative arts education, teacher professional development, and innovative pedagogical practices in early childhood and school settings.

Research Interests: Sarah’s work explores singing, movement, and music’s role in child development; teacher confidence in arts pedagogy; and online learning strategies during the pandemic. She investigates embodied learning, literacy through music, and resilience-building in early childhood education. Recent projects include Singing with Young Children (targeting teacher skill development) and Creative Arts Learning Online (examining preservice teacher experiences during COVID-19).
