Sarah Nelson is a full-time Lecturer in Diagnostic Radiography at the School of Health and Social Care, part of the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences at Sheffield Hallam University. She transitioned to academia in 2024 after 14 years as an NHS Senior Radiographer specializing in MRI and CT scanning. Her clinical work included roles across multiple NHS Trusts in Yorkshire and the North-West of England.
Education: MSc (Sheffield Hallam, 2022), BSc (Hons), BA (Hons). Her research focuses on improving neurodivergent paediatric patient experiences in radiology, culminating in initiatives like the MRI Sensory Saturday program which earned her a prestigious award nomination. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses including 'Introduction to Diagnostic Imaging' and 'Contemporary Imaging Practice.'
Teaching responsibilities include curriculum development, clinical placement coordination, and mentorship of students. She actively promotes the radiography profession through school outreach and is a member of the Society of Radiographers' Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Network.
