Sarah Mabey, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and Co-Director of the Environmental Studies Program at Hiram College. She specializes in migration ecology, stopover behavior, and the challenges of protecting wildlife habitats outside protected areas. Her teaching includes courses like Conservation Biology, Ornithology, and seminars on climate change and sustainability, often conducted at the James H. Barrow Biological Field Station.
- Education: B.A. Biology (Bryn Mawr College), M.S. Zoology (University of Maryland), Ph.D. Biological Sciences (University of Southern Mississippi).
Research focuses on anthropogenic impacts on wildlife populations and behavioral ecology. She mentors students in field studies investigating ecological questions. Active in campus sustainability initiatives and fieldwork across North America, Central America, and Europe. Currently resides in Hiram, Ohio.
Labs/Teams: Directs the Environmental Studies Program and utilizes the James H. Barrow Biological Field Station for research and teaching.
