Dr. Sarah Leith is an Associate Lecturer in the History of Scotland and the Wider World (c.1707–c.1914) at the School of History, University of St Andrews. She also serves as Communications Manager for the Institute of Scottish Historical Research since 2018 and previously held roles at the University of Glasgow’s School of Critical Studies and Centre for Robert Burns Studies. Her research focuses on the intersection of politics and culture in modern Scotland, with emphases on environmental thought, Scottish identity, and print culture from the eighteenth century onwards.
Leith is a co-investigator for a Royal Society of Edinburgh Small Research Grant (2024–2025) and a member of the AHRC-funded Scottish Magazines Network’s Steering Group. She edited the School’s alumni magazine, The St Andrews Historian, for 2023–2024. Her first monograph is under contract with Edinburgh University Press, and her work appears in journals like Northern Scotland and Scottish Literary Review.
