Sarah Jay is an Associate Professor at the University of Limerick, holding dual roles in the Centre for Social Issues Research and the Department of Psychology. Her research focuses on social identity processes related to well-being, education, empowerment, and social justice, particularly among marginalized communities such as the Nepalese leprosy-affected population, South African workers, and self-employed Indian women through NGO collaborations. She has conducted postdoctoral research funded by the Irish Research Council and Marie Curie CoFund, with placements in South Africa and India. Her teaching spans undergraduate and master's levels in developmental psychology, social identity research methods, and active learning strategies. She earned her BA (2010) and PhD (2015) in Social Psychology from the University of Limerick.
Her research emphasizes applied, real-world solutions to issues like stigma reduction, trauma management, and community resilience. Key areas include the impact of media on youth stress, LGBTQ+ cultural competency in mental health, and migrant integration through arts. She has contributed to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to quality education and reduced inequalities.
