Orla Muldoon is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Limerick, affiliated with the Department of Psychology and the Centre for Social Issues Research. Her research focuses on social identity processes, trauma, and public health, particularly exploring how group memberships and social structures influence mental health and behavior. She leads an ERC Advanced Grant project examining adversity and trauma through social identity change, and an HRB-IRC study on social solidarity during the pandemic. Muldoon holds a PhD from Queen's University Belfast and has held academic positions at Ulster University and QUB. She contributes to public media through opinion editorials in the Irish Times, and serves on editorial boards of Political Psychology and the Journal of Community and Applied Social Psychology. Her honors include the Fulbright Scholars Award (2020) and the Louise Kidder Early Career Award (2000).
