Sarah Jankowitz is a Lecturer in Criminology at Queen’s University Belfast’s School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work, affiliated with the Institute of Criminology and Criminal Justice (ICCJ). She holds a PhD in Sociology from Trinity College Dublin (2011–2015), an MPhil in International Peace Studies (Trinity College Dublin, 2010–2011), and a BA in International Studies from American University (2006–2009).
Her research focuses on critical analyses of victimhood, peacebuilding, and reconciliation in violent conflicts, particularly in Northern Ireland. She explores themes such as victim hierarchy, identity politics, and gendered experiences, advocating for inclusive approaches to societal healing. Her book *The Order of Victimhood: Violence, Hierarchy, and Building Peace in Northern Ireland* (2018) won the British Association of Irish Studies Book Prize. She has led interdisciplinary projects on urban violence (War in Peacetime) and arts-based reconciliation (AHRC-funded initiative).
Jankowitz teaches modules including *CRM1004 Crime & Society*, *CRM1001 Introducing Criminology*, and *CRM2009 Justice & Conflict*. She actively supervises postgraduate students in MRes and Youth Justice programs. Her work intersects with UN SDGs related to peace, justice, and sustainable communities.
She serves on the committee of the HAPP Centre for Gender in Politics and reviews for journals like *Political Psychology* and *Ethnopolitics*. Her recent research examines post-pandemic peacebuilding and the role of art in conflict transformation.
