Dr. Sarah Horn is a Researcher at the Institute for Film, Theatre, Media and Cultural Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz since October 2020. Her work intersects Gender Studies, Queer Theory, and Trans Studies with a focus on digital media and affect. She is a spokesperson for the Gender/Queer Studies and Media Studies working group of the German Media Studies Association (GfM) since 2020.

- Previous affiliation: Fellow at DFG Research Training Group "The Documentary. Excess and Withdrawal" (2016-2020)
Dr. Horn's research explores queer temporality, self-documentation practices in trans* vlogs, and the intersection of affect with digital media. Her work has been recognized with the GfM Best Publication Award in 2019.

She advises PhD students including Nicole Braida, Dustin Condren, and Jakob Larisch. Her collaborative efforts include editorial work for the online journal "kultur & schlecht" and contributing to the e-learning platform for Film Studies.
