Sarah Chant

Sarah Chant is a Lecturer in Women’s and Gender Studies at Wellesley College. Her research focuses on queer and trans futures, affect and memory studies, and political imaginaries in the U.S. South, with attention to intersections between anti-trans legislation, anti-Blackness, and anti-immigrant policies.

Her scholarly work examines how queer and trans communities use affective strategies (hope, humor, desire) to navigate oppressive contexts, alongside critical analyses of legislative trends shaping gender and sexuality in the southeastern U.S.
