Sarah Gorham is Teaching Professor of Art and Assistant Academic Director at the University of New England, where she coordinates Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities. With an M.F.A. in Fine Arts and M.A.T. in Art Education, her 15-year career spans painting, Italian studies, photography, and art history. Her research examines therapeutic applications of art-making for anxiety relief, resulting in interdisciplinary publications.
Her creative practice focuses on:
- Landscape and water-scape acrylic painting
- Capturing moments of stillness in nature
- Dynamic quality of water representation
- Connections between human emotion and environment
Professor Gorham's pedagogical approach combines technical training with conceptual exploration, drawing inspiration from historical works by Mondrian and Rothko. She previously taught art at elementary and middle school levels for over a decade before transitioning to higher education.
