Cathrine O. Frank

Professor Cathrine O. Frank serves as Professor of English and Assistant Academic Director at the University of New England. She coordinates Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities and holds an M.F.A. in Fine Arts and M.A.T. in Art Education. Her research explores connections between landscape painting, human emotions, and lived experience, focusing on water-scapes that capture moments of stillness and tranquility. With over a decade of teaching experience at elementary and middle school levels, she now investigates interdisciplinary connections between art-making and anxiety relief.

Her research interests include:

• Therapeutic applications of art in mental health
• Interpretation of nature through acrylic painting
• Historical works of color and form (Piet Mondrian, Mark Rothko)
• Art as a medium for peace and emotional calm
