Steven P. Ziebarth serves as Professor at Baldwin Wallace University, where he teaches all levels of painting, color theory, and junior/senior seminar courses. His multi-disciplinary artistic practice spans painting, drawing, ceramics, and bonsai, with international recognition for both visual art and horticultural work.
His educational foundation includes:
- M.F.A. in Painting from the University of Cincinnati
- B.F.A. in Painting from Kendall College of Art and Design
Ziebarth's research centers on figurative painting where he rigorously explores subjective color within precisely crafted value relationships. He treats subject matter—whether human figures or landscapes—as secondary vehicles for capturing ineffable emotional qualities and moods. His ceramic works command significant demand from private collectors across Europe and the United States, while his paintings appear in internationally juried exhibitions, museum shows, and galleries in New York City, Santa Fe, and Ontario.
As an educator, Ziebarth champions Baldwin Wallace's liberal arts tradition for providing students with foundational knowledge that directly informs artistic decisions regarding form, content, and concept. His mentoring occurs through intensive studio conversations covering life aspirations, pop culture, and career development, creating transformative educational experiences within the university's intimate departmental setting.
