Sarah Fisher

Sarah Fisher is an Associate Professor in the Social Science Department at Emory & Henry University and serves as the Associate VP for Institutional Research & Effectiveness. Her academic career spans teaching and administrative roles, with a focus on political science, international relations, and innovative pedagogy.

• Education: Ph.D. in Political Science and International Affairs from the University of Georgia (2015); B.A. in Political Science and History from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (2010).

Her research explores two primary domains: international conflict dynamics (foreign policy decision-making, territorial disputes, social trust, and adjudication) and political science pedagogy (kinesthetic learning, scaffolding research methods, and simulation-based teaching). Recent projects include analyzing ChatGPT use on campus, vaccine hesitancy, and teacher pay disparities in Virginia.

Her publications from 2014–2021 cover interdisciplinary themes in international relations, conflict resolution, and education innovation, with a focus on experimental methods, public opinion in territorial disputes, and active learning strategies. Courses taught range from statistics for social sciences to senior seminars in politics.

Fisher has taught globally, including at Duke TIP programs in China and India, and led field studies in China. She integrates active learning and cross-disciplinary insights into her classrooms, emphasizing real-world research applications.
